Remembering our task lighting we needed anywhere from 500-700 lux.

Initial light readings with the light meter and our lamp yielded the following.

For assembly of our lamp we only ended up putting in 2 loops of led tape.

Completely shut, we saw readings of about ~20-30 lux which makes sense.

If we slide the book halfway through we see that number jump up to about ~50 lux

Completely out we see readings of around 80 lux which even though is comparatively low was still comfortable to read by (in my opinion.)

Later on that night, as per Tom’s suggestion I went home and took some readings by my own lamp.

The readings were VERY different.

Half brightness of my desk lamp - around 140 lux

Full brightness of my desk lamp around 400 lux.

This means we’re going to have to get much much brighter with our book lamp. The next step here might be to add in the rest of the LED tape to allow for more light to go through.

We tried to put the light strip as a smaller light cylinder.
