Darkness Visible, and Palpable (Published 2011)

This exhibition was quite meaningful to me, I felt like it speaks to the work of Christine Sun Kim and Yo-Yo Lin that manages to capture the difficulties of living life with a specific disability. For an hour the audience has to revisit their assumptions. Being someone with vision there are so many things that we take for granted that this experience aims to explore. The ability to see something ahead of us and have ourselves be able to make constant adjustments of it as we continue to approach it is an extraordinary ability. The line “Sight helps shape our sense of the future” really stuck out to me. Mr Andreas Heinecke, the creator of the piece said this about it - “The exhibition encourages teamwork, trust and understanding and allows visitors to gain a greater appreciation of the power of communication and the abilities of others.”

I hope my thesis can follow this direction and lead me to making something worthwhile.

Jim Findlay: Dream of the Red Chamber, a performance for a sleeping audience

The Dream of the Red Chamber is an interesting idea, it reminds me of the sleepovers at the carnegie science center in Pittsburgh. The concept was for the specatacle to premeate the visitors ubconcious. The detatched experience becomes more heightened by what oyu left to walk to walkinto the space, and what you walk into when you leabe.I do have a healthy amount of skepticism to what the experience would actually be. Like would it actually start infiltrating my dreams or would be be lax.
