Finding comfort in your space in an unusual and new place.

We want to superimpose a collaged character into the city to contrast their existence in it.

The proposed idea would be having this collaged character navigating through the streets to their apartment. While on their journey we see the world around them in greyscale honing in on this idea of reaching a comfortable space.

Our little animation would present our character walking through the city. Them walking into frame and then out of frame on the other side. At this point, the surrounding world is colorless besides our character but once they reach their home, we see their meaningful personal items poof into the room and bring color to their space.

Final Output

The final creation we made ended up being an experiment in Adobe AR using our created puppet. After talking some pictures of us, Sophia created this mashup of our bodies and animated that in after effects to rig up the character to do a walk cycle.

While sophia was working on that, I decided to work on a smoke puff animation. While playing around with Procreate I found out that there was a way to animate on the app itself! Using a special brush, I was able to create a very fun looking smoke puff animation.

With the AR aspect in mind was a bit of a challenge as Adobe Aero only allowed us to place a surface on 1 flat plane. The annoying thing here was that we were not able to get it to stick to the plane itself. But then we re-examined our approach to the personal objects motif and then picked a few albums that we enjoyed.

This was our final output. Being able to have this little walkthrough and showing off our albums in AR felt like a very personable experience. The ability to add in my
