Preparation guidelines
- How will you explain your thesis as quickly as possible? You’ve got 20 minutes, you don’t want to talk for 15 of them… One suggestion: make a short (under a minute) ‘trailer’ of your project.
- Think about what kind of feedback you want. Are you having trouble with something specific that you need help with? They are not there to change your project, but to help you so tell them how to.
- Ask if you can record your conversation. That way you can really listen to what they are saying and not be distracted by taking notes. Later write up the ideas that were most useful to you
- Talk to your advisor about who they think will be good for you to talk to.
- Obviously, show up on time! And then leave on time–be mindful of the colleague who comes after you.
